Liam’s hands were on her shoulders, sliding slowly up to cradle her head. Anna could feel the tension between them. It made it difficult to breathe. She could feel his breath on her lips, could feel the excitement building inside her. She wanted nothing more than to give in to the moment and kiss him.
But she couldn’t.
“Liam,” she whispered before things went too far. “Wait…”
And that was it. The spell was broken, the moment past. An awkward goodbye and a resentment-filled car ride home and her night was over. She let her head fall forward onto the steering wheel, taking a moment to gather herself before going inside.
She knew she’d done the right thing. If she let herself get swept up with Liam, she’d have to tell him. Tell him the one thing she’d never told anyone… the one thing she was sure would change his mind about her.
